Job summary

Griffith Base Hospital in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District is seeking a Visiting Medical Officer (Paediatrics) on a contract, fee‑for‑service basis. The role delivers high‑quality paediatric care across inpatient, outpatient and on‑call settings, with up to 40 hours per week.

You will supervise junior medical staff, participate in clinical governance and quality improvement, and contribute to continuity of care within a supportive regional health network.

Qualifications

• Holds unconditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Paediatrician.
• Demonstrated recent clinical experience in Paediatrics at the role delineation of the service.
• Willingness to participate in on‑call roster and respond on site within a reasonable time.
• Commitment to NSW Health CORE values and MLHD values, goals and strategies.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills for a multidisciplinary environment.

What you'll be doing

As a Visiting Medical Officer in Paediatrics, you will provide high‑quality, contemporary paediatric care to infants, children and adolescents at Griffith Base Hospital. The role contributes to safe and effective patient outcomes and supports the delivery of a responsive and sustainable paediatric service.

Key responsibilities include:

• Delivering evidence‑based paediatric clinical services across inpatient, outpatient and on‑call settings
• Supporting junior medical officers and multidisciplinary staff through supervision, leadership and education
• Participating in clinical governance, quality improvement and risk management activities
• Contributing to continuity of care through effective communication and use of clinical information systems
• Participating in the department’s on‑call roster
