MLHD – Griffith Base Hospital invites applications for Staff Specialist Paediatricians in Griffith, NSW. Qualifications

• Holds unconditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist Paediatrician.
• Demonstrated recent clinical experience in paediatrics at the required role delineation.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership.
• Demonstrated effective clinical communication through IT and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
• Availability to participate in an on-call roster and respond on site within a reasonable time.
• Commitment to NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership within the paediatric team and supervise staff.
• Teach and supervise medical students and junior doctors.
• Promote patient quality and safety and participate in clinical governance.
• Deliver high-standard paediatric care across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Collaborate with other specialties to manage complex cases.

We are experiencing a period of growth at Griffith Base Hospital and are expanding the Specialist Paediatric team, we have multiple opportunities for Staff Specialist Paediatricians, we are flexible to be able to offer full and part-time, permanent and fixed term contract options.

Our Paediatricians have a passion for providing world class paediatric services in a rural environment. As key figures you will promote patient quality and safety whilst providing leadership, training, supervision, and education.

The hospitalhas a 10 inpatient beds on theChildren'sWard, 4 day surgery beds in the paediatric ward and 4 Special Care Nursery beds.There are approximately600 births peryear.

Griffith Base Hospital is associated with fouruniversities – University of New South Wales,University of Wollongong, University of Notre Dame and Charles Sturt University. Medical students are based in Griffith for year-long rotations and short four week rotations. The University of New South Wales runs a twelve month research program for medical students in Griffith.

Specialist medical officers have the opportunity to teach and supervise medical students. All four of the universities can offer conjoint academic appointments.
