Job summary

Alcoa’s Huntly Mining Operations in Western Australia seeks a Production Manager to lead large-scale mining activities, drive production performance and safety culture, and partner with Operations, Engineering and regulatory bodies.

You will report to the Mine Manager, shape the department’s business plan, optimise equipment utilisation, manage costs, and develop supervisory capability while maintaining strong stakeholder relations and a focus on continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Significant senior leadership experience in bauxite and/or metalliferous mining operations.
• Strong technical understanding of mining practices with a track record of production improvements and strategic objectives.
• Ability to lead and influence stakeholders at all levels, including regulators and unions.
• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering/processing/science; SSE certification essential; surface mining diploma and quarry manager certification highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Set and achieve production objectives for mining activities from clearing to rehabilitation.
• Champion a zero-injury safety culture and ensure safe work environments.
• Drive productivity improvements, manage costs, and implement process changes for efficiency.
• Develop supervisory capability through coaching, training, and effective performance management.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and unions; lead strategic planning and equipment selection.
