Job summary

Anglo American's Grosvenor Mine in Moranbah is seeking a Mine Trades Technician Mechanical to support underground coal mining equipment through planned and breakdown maintenance. You will work alongside seasoned tradespeople to develop fault-finding and diagnostic skills while contributing to installations, change-outs and rebuilds.

The role requires a strong safety focus, adherence to site standards, and a proactive approach to identifying defects and improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering: Mechanical or equivalent.
• Current Standard 11 (Surface & Underground).
• Proven mechanical maintenance experience in underground coal mine.
• Experience delivering best practice mechanical maintenance.
• Strong safety awareness and commitment to site standards.
• Eagerness to learn and progress within an underground coal environment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on underground coal mining equipment.
• Develop fault‑finding and diagnostic capability with tradespeople.
• Assist with mechanical installations, change‑outs and rebuilds.
• Interpret maintenance instructions, SAP work orders, drawings and OEM manuals.
• Ensure all work complies with site safety, environmental requirements.
• Accurately complete maintenance documentation and defect reports.
• Participate in toolbox talks and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Description

As a Mine Trades Technician Mechanical, you will support the safe and reliable operation of underground coal mining equipment through planned and breakdown maintenance activities. Working closely with experienced tradespeople, you will build strong fault‑finding and diagnostic skills while contributing to installations, change outs and rebuilds of mechanical equipment. The role requires a strong safety focus, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying equipment defects and improvement opportunities, all while accurately completing maintenance documentation and participating in site safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities, But Not Limited To

• Carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on underground coal mining equipment, including conveyors, pumps, diesel equipment and fixed plant
• Work alongside experienced tradespeople to develop strong fault‑finding and diagnostic capability
• Assist with mechanical installations, change‑outs and rebuilds in an underground environment
• Interpret maintenance instructions, SAP work orders, drawings and OEM manuals
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with site safety, statutory and environmental requirements
• Proactively identify equipment defects and improvement opportunities
• Accurately complete maintenance documentation and defect reports
• Participate in toolbox talks, pre‑starts and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering: Mechanical or equivalent
• Current Standard 11 (Surface & Underground)
• Proven mechanical maintenance experience within an underground coal mine
• Experience delivering best practice mechanical maintenance
• Strong safety awareness and commitment to working according to site standards
• Eagerness to learn, develop technical skills and progress within an underground coal environment
