Job Role: Microsoft D365 Finance Functional Consultant – Australian Statutory & Tax

About the Role
We are seeking a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance Consultant with strong Australian finance, taxation and statutory expertise to support a major finance transformation program within the Australian freight and logistics sector.
This is a specialist functional advisory role for a professional who understands both Australian finance and tax requirements and how these requirements are designed and implemented within D365 Finance.
The engagement will support the establishment and separation of an Australian legal entity, with a focus on finance process design, statutory compliance, reporting, financial controls and transition activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide SME guidance on the design of Australian finance and statutory processes within D365 Finance.
- Review and advise on core finance processes, including GL, AR, AP, O2C, R2R and financial close.
- Ensure the solution addresses Australian GST, BAS, PAYG, FBT, payroll tax and superannuation requirements.
- Define finance and reporting requirements for a newly established Australian legal entity following a carve-out/separation.
- Advise on opening balances, cutover, first financial close and post-go-live finance requirements.
- Define the approach for borrowing-base and lender reporting, including calculations, reconciliations, controls and audit requirements.
- Identify functional and process gaps between business requirements and the proposed ERP solution.
- Provide functional input into the D365 Finance versus Oracle assessment, particularly from a statutory, financial controls and reporting perspective.
- Lead and participate in Finance and Treasury workshops, translating business requirements into practical solution designs.
- Contribute to solution documentation, process designs and Statement of Work (SoW) development.
- Provide guidance on financial controls, auditability and readiness for the first reporting periods following separation.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a hands-on D365 Finance professional with strong Australian statutory and finance experience.
- 8+ years of experience working with Microsoft Dynamics AX / D365 Finance in Australian environments.
- Strong functional knowledge of Australian finance and statutory processes.
- Experience designing or configuring core finance processes, including GL, AR, AP, O2C, R2R and financial close.
- Practical knowledge of Australian taxation and statutory reporting, including GST/BAS and PAYG.
- Good understanding of AASB and Australian accounting requirements and their application within ERP solutions.
- Experience supporting ERP transformation, carve-out, separation or Australian legal entity establishment programs.
- Experience with finance cutover, opening balances and first-close activities.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work directly with Finance, Treasury and technology stakeholders.
- Excellent workshop facilitation, requirements analysis and solution-design capabilities.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with borrowing-base or lender reporting.
- Experience within freight, logistics, transport or other asset-intensive industries.
- Experience assessing or transitioning between D365 Finance and Oracle.
- CA or CPA qualification.
- Experience supporting finance separation and Day 2 operating-model activities.
