Job summary

Medrecruit Limited invites applications for a Specialist Microbiologist in Tasmania. The role supports the Staff Specialist Microbiologist with clinical and diagnostic guidance to the Pathology and Infectious Diseases teams, and covers leave periods as needed.

Role includes on-call duties, part-time hours up to 22.8 per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 20 April 2027. Salary ranges from $222,789 to $319,701 per annum, pro rata, plus 12% superannuation and salary packaging options.

Qualifications

• Experience in management of the clinical microbiology service including bench-level advice.
• Communication of critical microbiology results to treating teams.
• Regular interaction with the hospital’s infectious diseases service and the infection control unit.
• Teaching and research skills.
• Good understanding of laboratory safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and diagnostic advice to Pathology and the ID physician team within the Infectious Diseases Department.
• Provide leave coverage for the Staff Specialist Microbiologist during periods of absence.
• Contribute to on-call duties and roster as required.
