Job summary

AC Laser Cutting Pty Ltd in Thomastown, Melbourne VIC is seeking a skilled Metal Fabricator to join our fabrication team. You will interpret engineering drawings and produce welded and assembled sheet metal components with precision and independence.

The role is Full-time with a day shift from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. We offer a competitive salary of $80,000–$85,000 per year plus superannuation and a supportive, growing Australian sheet metal manufacturing business.

Qualifications

• At least three years of relevant experience as a Metal Fabricator or in a closely related metal fabrication role.
• Hands-on MIG and TIG welding of stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium.
• Ability to read technical drawings and perform accurate measurement, marking and quality checks.
• Practical knowledge of metal preparation, cutting, forming, joining and finishing processes.
• Commitment to workshop safety, consistent quality and productive teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Study and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements, dimensions and tolerances.
• Select, measure, mark out, cut, clean and prepare metal stock and components for fabrication and assembly.
• Perform MIG and TIG welding on stainless steel, mild steel and aluminium.
• Cut and shape metal sections and profiles using hand tools, power tools and metal-cutting machinery.
• Shape and bend metal sections and pipes using hand or machine tools and suitable forming methods.
• Align, position and secure parts using measuring instruments, fixtures and hand tools prior to joining.
• Join components by welding and, where required, bolting or rivetting to meet specifications.
• Inspect completed work and welds for dimensional accuracy, weld penetration, bead consistency and finish.
• Finish fabricated products by grinding, filing, polishing and other appropriate surface preparation or cleaning processes.
• Carry out drilling, countersinking and tapping where required by the job.
• Maintain equipment, follow safe operating procedures and keep the workshop clean and organised.

AC Laser Cutting is seeking a skilled and experienced Metal Fabricator to join our fabrication team in Thomastown.

The successful applicant will work on precision sheet metal and fabricated components, interpreting engineering drawings and producing high-quality welded and assembled products.

We are looking for a reliable tradesperson who can carry out fabrication and welding tasks safely, accurately and with a high degree of independence.

Working Hours & Remuneration

• Employment: Full-time

• Location: Thomastown, Melbourne VIC

• Day shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am–3:00 pm

• Salary: $80,000–$85,000 per annum, excluding superannuation, depending on skills and experience
