Job summary

Myer Group in Melbourne is seeking experienced Merchandise Planners to own the commercial planning, assortment quantification, and financial performance of assigned Myer Exclusive Brands. You will partner with Design and Production teams to translate creative direction into balanced assortments that maximise customer relevance, inventory productivity, and business performance.

Qualifications

  • 5-8 years' experience in merchandise or retail planning.
  • Proven track record in managing brand or category financial performance.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with advanced analytical capability.
  • Excellent forecasting, assortment planning, and inventory management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop seasonal and monthly sales, inventory, intake, and margin plans for assigned brands.
  • Partner with Design to build commercially balanced assortments aligned with demand.
  • Determine seasonal buy quantities and investment plans to maximise sales and inventory productivity.
  • Monitor trade performance, identify risks and opportunities, and take actions to optimise results.
  • Develop and execute markdown, promotional, and inventory strategies to improve performance.
  • Maintain accurate forecasts and provide insights for commercial decisions.
  • Collaborate with Design, Production, Marketing, Digital, Retail and Supply Chain teams to deliver seasonal plans.
  • Lead post-season reviews and translate insights into future assortment strategies.
  • Present planning updates and financial outcomes to key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across Planning and Product teams.

About the Role:

About You:
  • 5-8 years' experience in merchandise planning, retail planning, commercial planning, or a related retail discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience managing brand or category financial performance.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with advanced analytical capability.
  • Excellent forecasting, assortment planning, and inventory management skills.
  • Strong understanding of customer behaviour, retail trade, and private label product development.
  • Advanced Excel and retail planning systems capability.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with detailed execution.
