Job summary

Western Sydney Local Health District invites applications from qualified mental health professionals to join Auburn & Merrylands Clinical Care Team, delivering contemporary community-based care near home. You’ll work with a dynamic multidisciplinary group supporting adults with complex needs.

As a Mental Health Clinician, you’ll conduct triage, assessments and interventions, develop individualised care plans, and coordinate discharge planning, while advocating for patients’ rights and recovery.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in mental health and discipline-specific assessments and interventions.
• Experience working with people with severe and persistent mental illness.
• Ability to collaborate meaningfully with consumers and carers with a commitment to recovery principles.
• Knowledge of NSW Mental Health Act, 2007.
• Excellent communication skills including verbal and written.
• Computer literacy and ability to use database systems.
• Current NSW Driver's Licence.

What you'll be doing

As a Mental Health Clinician, you’ll provide comprehensive, recovery-oriented care to people experiencing chronic and persistent mental illness. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll combine clinical expertise with collaborative care coordination to support consumers throughout their recovery journey.

Conduct mental health triage, comprehensive assessments and clinical interventions, including psychological and family interventions.

Develop and coordinate individualised care plans in partnership with consumers, carers and other care providers.

Coordinate ongoing care and discharge planning, connecting consumers with inpatient services, GPs, NGOs, community agencies and other supports.

Advocate for consumers, promote their rights and wellbeing, and support meaningful participation in treatment and recovery.

Contribute to clinical reviews, quality improvement, service development, health promotion, education and professional development activities.

Registration: Demonstrated full registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse

Selection Criteria

Demonstrated skills in mental health and discipline specific assessments and interventions and experience working with people with severe and persistent mental illness.

Demonstrated understanding and ability to work within experience working in a team and/or knowledge of the principles that guide service delivery within this model of practice

Demonstrated ability to collaborate meaningfully with consumers and carers with a commitment and understanding of recovery principles in mental health service provision.

Demonstrated working knowledge of NSW Mental Health Act, 2007.

Demonstrated excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and good interpersonal skills.

Computer competence and literacy including the use of database systems.

Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia
