Job description

Welcome to HIF – the Health Insurance Fund of Australia!

We’re a not‑for‑profit health fund with a national presence and a close‑knit team of around 125 passionate people based right here in Perth. At HIF, we’re all about supporting our Members to live healthier lives – and we do that with genuine care, a strong community spirit, and a member‑first mindset.

We’re currently looking for five full‑time Member Service Advisors to join our Member Engagement team.

About the Role

As a Member Service Advisor, you’ll be a key point of contact for our Members via phone and email – helping them with everything from claims questions and policy changes to general advice about their private health insurance.

You’ll be supported by a dedicated team of leaders and colleagues who genuinely care about your success and wellbeing. We place real value on creating a positive and connected workplace – from team huddles and mentoring to team‑building activities and a vibrant social calendar. At HIF, staff happiness and culture aren’t just buzzwords – they’re at the heart of how we work.

To set you up for success, you’ll complete a paid, full‑time five‑week induction program at our Perth office, starting Monday 12th January 2026. This training will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to thrive in your new role.

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • A passion for providing excellent customer service and a genuine interest in helping others.
  • Proficiency with computers – you’ll need at least intermediate skills with Outlook and Word, and confidence learning new systems.
  • The ability to absorb and apply new information – especially when it comes to health insurance products.
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, empathetic approach to conversations.
How We Support You

We believe in giving our people the time and space to deliver high‑quality, thoughtful service. While the industry standard for call centre adherence sits at 95%, we set ours at 85% – giving you meaningful breaks between calls so you can reset and bring your best to every interaction.

We also offer a significantly longer after‑call wrap period than industry standard, ensuring you have the time to take accurate notes, process requests thoroughly, and properly support our Members without feeling rushed.

What You’ll Get

We offer more than just a job – we’re proud to support our people with a range of benefits, including:

  • $65,167 base salary plus 13% superannuation
  • Subsidised health insurance
  • Discounted travel insurance
  • Flexible work options, including Additional Purchased Leave and Nine Day Fortnight available following completion of probationary period.
  • Hybrid working arrangements available once you’ve completed induction, passed probation, and demonstrated role competence. Hybrid work includes a 60% in‑office requirement
  • Birthday leave to celebrate your special day
  • A variety of leave types, including cultural, reproductive, volunteering leave and more
  • Fun and inclusive social events through our Social Club
  • Study assistance to support your learning
  • Employee Assistance Program (confidential support service)
  • PAW Days – bring your furry friend to work!
  • A modern, community‑focused office close to Perth CBD with excellent public transport access
Key Dates & Application Info
  • Induction start date: Monday 12th January 2026
  • Applications close: 5pm, Sunday 7th December 2025
  • We ask that no leave be taken during the first 3 months to ensure full participation in training and onboarding, and to allow for consolidation of learning.
