Job summary

NSW Health's Westmead Hospital invites applications for a Medical Radiation Scientist (Diagnostic Radiographer Level 2). This permanent full-time role delivers high-quality diagnostic imaging and patient-centred care across a busy radiology service.

You'll perform a diverse range of radiographic examinations, participate in a 24/7 roster, and work with multidisciplinary teams to support safe, timely imaging and ongoing service improvement.

Qualifications

• Qualification: Degree in or currently completing degree in Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science – Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent

• Deliver accurate, timely imaging while maintaining professional standards, radiation safety and patient identification requirements

• Work collaboratively with radiographers, medical, nursing and other multidisciplinary teams to support effective patient care
• Participate in a 24/7 rotating roster and on-call arrangements as required, while contributing to service quality, safety and improvement

What you'll be doing

As a Medical Radiation Scientist, you’ll use your clinical knowledge and technical skills to provide safe, high-quality diagnostic imaging while delivering compassionate, person-centred care. Key responsibilities will be to:

• Perform a diverse range of radiographic examinations, including general, trauma, mobile, operating theatre, dental and fluoroscopy.

• Deliver accurate, timely imaging while maintaining professional standards, radiation safety and patient identification requirements.

• Explain procedures clearly, reassure patients and adapt your approach to their individual physical and emotional needs.

• Work collaboratively with radiographers, medical, nursing and other multidisciplinary teams to support effective patient care.

Essential Requirements

• Qualification: Degree in or currently completing degree in Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science – Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent

• Registration: Eligible for and registered with Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA) prior to commencement

• License: Eligible for or possess NSW EPA Radiation Licence IA14

Selection Criteria

• Demonstrated experience in general radiography, including but not limited to general and trauma, operating suite, mobile, dental and fluoroscopy

• Experience working in a busy hospital environment

• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

• Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to solve clinical situations and to develop effective solutions
