Job summary

Alcon, a global leader in eye care, seeks an early to mid-career Software Engineer to join the team developing advanced medical imaging solutions. You will build and maintain software packages for internal R&D and manufacturing as well as software in commercial products.

The role emphasizes strong C++ skills, software design principles, and collaboration within IEC 62304 compliant processes, with opportunities to work on graphics, OpenCV, and DevOps practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong C++ programming skills with solid understanding of software design principles (RAII, SRP, SoC).
• Experience with software testing concepts and DevOps practices is a plus.
• Experience with OpenCV and device driver or hardware integration is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Develop software to deliver new product features and enhance existing functionality.
• Work within Git, Jira, and code review workflows.
• Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code.
• Contribute to documentation aligned with medical and regulatory expectations.
• Work within the IEC 62304 medical device software development framework.
