Job summary

The Role:

Join Adbri Cement in a permanent Monday-Friday day-shift role, giving you the stability of a day roster and the opportunity to be home with your family every night!


We’re looking for a Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker to join our close-knit maintenance team in Darwin. This is a hands-on role supporting our cement grinding, packaging and distribution operation, where you’ll work across a range of heavy industrial equipment with a strong focus on preventative maintenance, reliability and keeping the plant operating at its best.


Your day will typically involve:


  • Completing toolbox talks, pre-starts and daily maintenance planning.

  • Carrying out preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance.

  • Maintaining conveyors, ball mills, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, valves and associated mechanical equipment.

  • Working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems and packaged plant equipment.

  • Diagnosing mechanical issues and carrying out repairs to minimise downtime.

  • Assisting with fabrication and basic welding where required.

  • Reading and working from engineering drawings.

  • Managing spare parts and updating maintenance work orders in SAP.

  • Supporting annual shutdown and planned maintenance activities.

  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and site safety.

  • Working collaboratively with the Maintenance Supervisor and wider operations team.


About You:

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter who enjoys hands-on work, thrives in a fast-paced environment and can adapt when priorities change. To be successful, you'll bring:



  • Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Engineering or a related trade.

  • Cement experience isn’t essential. If you have strong mechanical skills from heavy industry, manufacturing, mining, quarrying, food production or a similar environment, we’d like to hear from you.

  • Solid knowledge of gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, valves, hydraulics, pneumatics and pumps.

  • Strong fault-finding and mechanical troubleshooting skills.

  • A proactive approach to safety and quality.

  • The ability to work independently while also contributing to a close-knit team.

  • Intermediate level computer literacy.


Desirable certifications

First Aid Certificate, Rigging / Dogging, High Risk Licence, EWP, Working at Heights, Forklift, Confined Spaces.
