Job summary

Core Talent in Newcastle is seeking a Mechanical Fitter / Hydraulic Hose Fitter for a Monday–Friday day shift. You will fit, install and service truck-mounted crane systems with strong hydraulics expertise in a hands-on workshop.

The role focuses on hydraulic hose fitting, component installation and mechanical assembly, with opportunities to work on cranes, hookloaders and supporting equipment. A current licence and mechanical trade are essential.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical trade qualification required with strong hydraulic hose fitting experience.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings/specifications.
  • Mechanical fitting and assembly skills for truck-mounted crane systems.

Responsibilities

  • Hydraulic hose fitting, routing and installation.
  • Installation of hydraulic components and systems.
  • Mechanical fitting and assembly of truck-mounted crane systems.
  • Installation and modification of vehicle loading cranes and hookloaders.
  • Assembly and installation of subframes and components.
  • Assembly and disassembly of crane and hookloader equipment.
  • Mechanical and hydraulic pre-delivery inspections.
  • Servicing and maintenance of crane equipment.
  • Assisting with crane and hookloader installations.
  • Reading and following engineering specifications.

Mechanical Fitter / Hydraulic Hose Fitter

Newcastle | Monday–Friday Days | 6:00am–2:00pm (Flexible) $45 per hour (negotiable) + OT + Super


Are you a Mechanical Fitter with strong hydraulic experience looking for a Monday–Friday day shift role? We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter / Hydraulic Hose Fitter to join a well-established company specialising in the installation and fit-out of crane and lifting systems onto trucks and HGVs. This is a hands‑on workshop position where hydraulic hose fitting and hydraulic system installation will make up a large part of your day-to-day work.


The Role

Working as part of a skilled workshop team, you will be responsible for the mechanical installation, assembly and servicing of truck-mounted crane systems and associated equipment.



  • Hydraulic hose fitting, routing and installation

  • Installation of hydraulic components and systems

  • Mechanical fitting and assembly of truck-mounted crane systems

  • Installation and modification of vehicle loading cranes and hookloaders

  • Assembly and installation of subframes and associated components

  • Assembly and disassembly of crane and hookloader equipment

  • Mechanical and hydraulic pre-delivery inspections

  • Servicing and maintenance of new and used crane equipment

  • Assisting with crane and hookloader installations

  • Reading and working from engineering specifications

  • Ensuring all work meets quality and safety standards

  • Working closely with other workshop fitters and the wider team


What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have a mechanical trade background with solid hands‑on hydraulic experience.


You will ideally have:



  • Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Fitting & Turning, Heavy Vehicle, Engineering or a related discipline

  • Strong experience with hydraulics and hydraulic hose fitting

  • Mechanical fitting and assembly experience

  • Experience working on trucks, heavy vehicles, trailers, mobile equipment or similar

  • Previous experience with cranes, hookloaders or lifting equipment would be highly regarded

  • Ability to read and follow engineering drawings/specifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a small workshop team

  • Current driver's licence

  • MR or HR licence would be advantageous

  • Forklift licence would be advantageous
