Job summary

The Australian National University in Canberra is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Specialist to lead design, development, validation and maintenance of mechanical and opto-mechanical systems within the RSAA instrumentation program.

You will collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders, apply rigorous validation techniques and help deliver high-performance equipment for the Advanced Instrumentation and Technology Centre.

The Position

The successful candidate will provide specialist technical management skill in support of the instrumentation program in the area of mechanical engineering. This position will provide design; development, validation and maintenance expertise for approved RSAA technical projects and activities.

The Person

We are looking for a qualified Mechanical Engineering Specialist with experience in mechanical and opto-mechanical design, system validation techniques and maintenance of mechanical or opto-mechanical systems. A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Highly developed organisational skills and effective self-management are key.
