Job summary

Regal Trailers in Deer Park, Victoria is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design, develop and improve semi-trailer mechanical systems and structures. You will review drawings, support manufacturing, and apply engineering principles to axle, suspension, braking and load distribution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• At least two years of relevant industry experience.
• Knowledge of mechanical design, fabrication processes and engineering documentation.
• Experience in trailer manufacturing or heavy vehicle engineering is advantageous.
• Ability to interpret and prepare engineering drawings and technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and review semi-trailer mechanical systems and structural components.
• Prepare, review and interpret engineering drawings, specs and fabrication requirements.
• Assess designs for load capacity, weight distribution, stability and durability.
• Support custom trailer builds translating requirements into manufacturable designs.
• Oversee assembly, fabrication, fit-out and commissioning at the Deer Park facility.
• Analyze and improve performance related to suspension, axles, braking and alignment.
• Investigate faults and develop corrective engineering solutions to minimise rework.
• Participate in prototype review, testing and validation to ensure quality and compliance.
• Recommend suitable components and materials for durability and production efficiency.
• Communicate design changes with management, production staff and suppliers.
• Prepare technical reports and workshop support documents for consistency.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for durability and quality.
