Job summary

Glencore Mount Isa Mines in Mount Isa, Queensland, Australia, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Smelter Projects team. You will deliver mechanical projects across one of Australia’s most complex processing operations, working closely with operations, maintenance and project teams to provide practical engineering solutions from concept through commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in mining, minerals processing, heavy industry, manufacturing or a similar environment.
• Experience across project scoping, design, fabrication, installation and commissioning activities.
• Strong planning, problem-solving and organisational skills.
• A commitment to safety leadership and continuous improvement.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management systems.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical projects safely, on time and within budget.
• Develop project scopes, engineering solutions and execution plans.
• Coordinate design, procurement, fabrication and installation activities.
• Support commissioning and project handover activities.
• Build strong working relationships with operational and maintenance teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve plant reliability, safety and productivity.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, statutory requirements and site procedures.
