Valiant Space, based in Brisbane, Australia, designs, tests and manufactures non-toxic thrusters and propulsion systems for small satellites. We are growing and hiring a Mechanical Engineer for a fast-paced, hands-on role to test spaceflight hardware.

You will support design across product ranges, develop ground-testing hardware, and perform structural and thermal analyses, collaborating with a small, dynamic team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Mechatronics Engineering.
• Ability to work autonomously in a demanding startup atmosphere.
• Proficiency with Fusion 360 or equivalent CAD.
• Experience with FEA and interpreting results.
• Excellent communication and time management.
• Attention to detail.

Responsabilités

• Support design across product range (thrusters, valves, propellant tanks).
• Develop mechanical hardware for ground testing equipment.
• Perform structural and thermal analysis on flight hardware.
• Conduct acceptance testing of finished products and systems.
• Contribute to team product design efforts.

About the position

Valiant Space is an in-space propulsion company based in Brisbane, Australia. The company designs, manufactures, and tests non-toxic thrusters, space-rated valves, and full propulsion systems for small satellites. The company is continually growing and is onboarding new staff and increasing its product line.

This is an exciting time to become a part of Valiant Space and our journey! We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team for a fast-paced, hands-on position that will give you the chance to test spaceflight hardware!

Responsibilities

• Support design efforts across Valiant's product range, including thrusters, valves, and propellant tanks


• Develop mechanical hardware for ground testing equipment


• Perform combined structural and thermal analysis on critical flight hardware


• Conduct acceptance testing of finished products and systems


• Contribute to team efforts of overall product design

Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field


• Ability to work autonomously in a demanding startup atmosphere


• High proficiency with Autodesk Fusion360 or equivalent CAD packages


• Experience conducting FEA and interpreting results


• Excellent communication and time management skills


• Excellent attention to detail

Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

• >3 years of relevant aerospace experience


• Experience with pressure equipment / fittings


• Experience with scripting languages (e.g. Python, Matlab).


• Experience working with space standards and requirements
