Job description

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our busy and friendly Brisbane Mechanical team. The role is suitable for a qualified candidate who has significant Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) design experience on building projects.

We are looking for someone that is able to work independently on a wide range of projects with an ability to manage workload on several projects at different stages of completion. You will be expected to regularly attend client facing meetings and should have good consulting skills.

We are currently working on a wide range of health care, commercial, retail, defence, industrial and educational building projects.

Day to day tasks would involve:
  • Develop HVAC engineering designs, heat load calculations, equipment selections, reticulation sizing, coordination, and documentation
  • Responsible for planning and managing projects from initial planning, concept and brief, through to installation and commissioning.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge, providing oversight and supervision to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Work closely and develop trusted relationships with other project stakeholders, notably architects, contractors, builders and end users to achieve efficient and cost-effective solutions with a high-quality outcome
  • Manage HVAC design projects in accordance with code and company quality standards
  • Bring value to in-house design/project meetings
  • Adhere to Stantec professional standards, ethics and Stantec quality procedures
To be successful for this role you'll need:
  • Hold a Mechanical Engineer Degree or equivalent
  • Ideally have 3 years previous HVAC design engineering experience in Consulting within the Building services industry
  • Knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards
  • Working knowledge of Revit and other software
  • Ideally have experience planning and managing successful projects
  • Willingness to establish and maintain strong client relationships to formulate repeat opportunities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
  • Positive, can-do attitude and strong work ethic
