Job summary

Coronado Global Resources is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our Curragh Complex to oversee mechanical maintenance engineering, governance and safety-compliant infrastructure management. You will support fixed plant systems, mobile assets and structural components while guiding site engineers and maintenance teams.

The role emphasizes safety, asset reliability and collaboration with the Superintendent Engineering to sustain operational excellence and strong safety standards across the Curragh

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering response to mechanical backlog and degradation across fixed plant and site infrastructure, ensuring long-term, sustainable solutions.
• Provide expert technical support to maintenance teams, ensuring work is properly engineered, risk-assessed and compliant.
• Develop and review repair scopes, technical drawings, material specs and supplier submissions for quality and regulatory compliance.
• Own mechanical engineering governance, including oversight of registers, compliance reviews and documentation standards.
• Contribute to asset management and reliability through assessing equipment condition, performance and failure modes.
• Provide supervision and guidance to early-career engineers on site, ensuring safe and competent delivery in line with Coronado’s Code of Conduct and CARE values.

About The Role

Join our Curragh Complex Engineering team as a Mechanical Engineer — a key technical role responsible for mechanical maintenance engineering, technical governance, and ensuring the safe, compliant management of mechanical infrastructure and equipment. You will provide engineering oversight across fixed plant systems, mobile asset interfaces, and structural components. This position reports directly to the Superintendent Engineering and plays a vital role in maintaining operational excellence and safety standards.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the engineering response to mechanical backlog and degradation across fixed plant and site infrastructure, ensuring technical issues are addressed with a long-term, sustainable approach.
• Provide expert technical support to maintenance execution teams, ensuring all work is properly engineered, risk-assessed, and aligned with operational and safety standards.
• Develop and review detailed repair scopes, technical drawings, material specifications, and supplier submissions to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
• Take ownership of mechanical engineering governance, including oversight of registers, compliance reviews, and engineering documentation standards.
• Contribute to asset management and reliability strategies by assessing equipment condition, performance, and failure modes through sound engineering principles.
• Provide supervision and technical guidance to early-career engineers on site, ensuring all work is delivered safely, competently, and in alignment with Coronado’s Code of Conduct and CARE values.
