Job summary

McCain Foods in Ballarat is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join the Maintenance team at our Ballarat Potato site, providing essential support to maintain optimal plant performance. You will be part of a dynamic maintenance group ensuring high availability of equipment and efficiency across the facility.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of mechanical fitting experience, with hydraulics and pneumatics knowledge, and the ability to work a rotating roster with shift work.

Responsibilities

Job Description

We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter to join our team at our Ballarat Potato site. You will be working as part of the Maintenance team, providing support to ensure optimal plant performance.

About The Role

• Responsible for completion of planned and unplanned maintenance work in a timely manner.
• Work alongside the production teams to ensure maximum availability and efficiency of our production facility.
• Respond to breakdown calls during your shift to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
• Participate in the maintenance programs through SAP that includes preventative, corrective and breakdown responses.
• Working on a 7-day/12-hour rotation roster. Shift allowances and overtime are remunerated accordingly, we offer a competitive hourly rate.

About You

We are looking for an individual who will be on the tools and is;

• Able to work in a rotating roster, overtime and shift work!
• Relevant Australian Trade Qualifications or Trade Recognition - Mechanical/Maintenance Fitter, Fitter/Machinist.
• Minimum 3-5 years of mechanical fitting experience required.
• Experience and/or qualifications in Hydraulics and Pneumatics
• Intermediate level experience in hydraulics and pneumatics systems required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proactive in investigating failures and making recommendations to reduce risk and improve systems/processes.
• Excellent communication skills, able to relate to other departments and individuals.
• Good computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Food processing or manufacturing industry experience is preferred but not essential.
