The City of Hobart is seeking a qualified Motor Mechanic – Diesel Specialist to maintain and repair a diverse fleet of heavy vehicles and plant across Tasmania. This permanent, full-time role combines workshop and field work, using diagnostics to keep equipment reliable and safe for community services.

Qualifications

• Qualified Motor Mechanic with diesel expertise.
• Experience maintaining heavy vehicles and plant.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair a diverse range of heavy vehicles, agricultural machinery and plant equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults.
• Use advanced diagnostic software and on-board monitoring systems to identify and rectify issues efficiently.
• Interpret technical manuals, service information and schematics to deliver effective repair solutions.
• Complete work safely and professionally in accordance with Australian Standards, Codes of Practice and industry regulations.

We’re seeking a qualified Motor Mechanic with diesel expertise to join our supportive team. You’ll need a current Driver Licence, a Heavy Rigid Licence (or willingness to obtain), and a White Card.
