We're looking for a highly organised, energetic Workshop Controller to take ownership of the daily operation of our Ford service workshop.

This is not a technical role . It's an operations, people and performance role in a workshop environment.

After spending time on the floor recently, we're clear on what's required : stronger daily control, better workflow, and clear accountability. This role has been created to fix drift and lift standards.

The role

Reporting to the Ford Service Manager and working closely with the Workshop Foreman, you will have direct authority over technicians and be responsible for :

  • Daily workshop planning, scheduling and job allocation
  • WIP control and capacity management
  • Technician start times, utilisation and productivity
  • Monitoring progress throughout the day and adjusting plans in real time
  • Identifying and removing bottlenecks before they impact customers
  • Resetting expectations and maintaining structure on the workshop floor
  • Supporting technicians to succeed through clarity, consistency and follow-through

This is a hands‑on, visible role. You'll be on the floor, constantly moving, checking progress, and keeping the operation running smoothly.

About you

We are deliberately not seeking a mechanical background.

You will likely come from an operations, logistics, production, scheduling or similar environment and bring :

  • Strong systems and process thinking
  • Confidence holding people accountable
  • The ability to say no when the plan requires it
  • Energy, pace and visibility
  • A calm but firm leadership style under pressure

Automotive experience is welcome but not essential . Operational discipline is.

What success looks like

You'll be measured on outcomes such as :

  • Improved workshop flow and predictability
  • Strong WIP control
  • Improved technician utilisation and efficiency
  • A more structured, calmer workshop environment
What we offer
  • Real authority to run the workshop floor
  • Strong support from the Ford Service Manager and Senior Leadership
  • Autonomy to build and embed effective systems
  • A stable, long‑term role within a respected dealership group
  • Competitive remuneration based on experience
This role will suit someone who
  • Enjoys bringing order to complex, fast‑moving environments
  • Is comfortable having direct, professional conversations
  • Wants ownership, accountability and influence
