The ideal candidate holds an apprenticeship or qualification in automotive mechanics, has proven workshop experience, good communication skills and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Recognised apprenticeship or automotive qualification.
• Proven experience in a professional workshop.
• Strong knowledge of engines, transmissions, electrical systems and suspension.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose vehicle faults and mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and technical expertise.
• Perform routine maintenance services including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups and general inspections.
• Conduct repairs to engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension and electrical components.
• Execute welding and fabrication tasks as required for vehicle repairs and modifications.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and workshop procedures for a safe environment.
• Maintain accurate records of work and parts used for each vehicle serviced.
• Communicate with customers to explain repairs needed and provide cost estimates.
• Ensure tools and workshop equipment are maintained in good working order.
• Keep up to date with new automotive technologies and repair techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose vehicle faults and mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and technical expertise

What we're looking for

• Recognised apprenticeship or qualification in automotive mechanics or equivalent hands-on experience
• Proven experience as a mechanic in a professional workshop environment
• Strong knowledge of vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, electrical systems and suspension
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and modern automotive equipment
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and specifications
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to test drive vehicles where appropriate
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced workshop environment
