Job summary

NRMA Marine is seeking a Master <45m for casual/part-time work on Sydney Harbour vessels. You will operate on a 7-day rotating roster, ensuring safe, efficient navigation, vessel readiness and crew performance across operations from preparation to final berthing.

You must hold Master <45m, MED2, Port Jackson knowledge, First Aid and AMSA fitness, with WWCC; RSA is desirable. Strong seamanship, leadership and communication skills are essential, as is a proactive safety culture.

Qualifications

• Current Master <45m (minimum) certification.
• MED2 (minimum) certification.
• Certificate of Local Knowledge (Port Jackson).
• First Aid Certificate.
• Certificate of Medical Fitness (AMSA or equivalent).
• Working with Children Check.
• Responsible Service of Alcohol is desirable, not essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safe navigation and operation of the vessel in accordance with maritime regulations.
• Maintain vessel systems and accurate paperwork.
• Manage the crew, attendance and performance.
• Ensure passenger safety and satisfaction on board.
• Enforce vessel security, respond to threats and emergencies.
• Oversee crew training, drills and compliance with regulations.

Job Description

We currently have excitingcasual or part-timeopportunities available to join the NRMA Marine team as a Master <45m. You will work a 7-day rotating roster where you will be responsible for the safe, clear and diligent management of the vessel and crew, while the vessel is being prepared for operation, is underway or finishing its operations, to ensure the day to day operations attain the standards required.

Specifically, you will be required to:

• Ensure the safe navigation and operation of the vessel complying with maritime regulations and company guidelines
• Maintain and update vessel systems and maintain accurate paperwork on the vessel
• Manage the crew, crew attendance and performance
• Ensure the overall satisfaction and safety of passengers on the vessel including directing your crew as appropriate in their primary roles and duties
• The enforcement of vessel security including managing security threats, breach reports, emergency situations and security screening
• Manage the crew to ensure the vessel is clean, safe in good order for service
• Manage the crew compliance, including vessel and land-based training and drills, compliance with maritime regulations, Code of Conduct requirements and Responsible Service of Alcohol
• Have full knowledge of the Safety Management Systems while promoting and reporting on a safe work culture.
