Job summary

Gilmour Space Technologies Pty Ltd in Queensland's Yatala is seeking a Manufacturing Technician - Electrical to join our in-house rocket manufacturing team. You will build and assemble electrical and electronic components, support prototype product tests, and help maintain safety and quality across production.

The role requires 2+ years in high reliability manufacturing, knowledge of mechatronic or electrical systems, and strong problem solving.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a high reliability and quality manufacturing environment, ideally aerospace.
• Fundamental knowledge of mechatronic, battery, avionic or electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Electronic/electrical assembly and wiring
• Mechanical enclosure/component assembly
• Electrical circuit fault finding and diagnosis
• Assemble cables, hand soldering, and document changes
• Install field wiring and termination of motors, sensors and smart devices
• Conduct and record product tests and diagnostic activities to support production
• Build small control panels for basic machine automation
• Ensure compliance with procedures, engineering requirements and regulatory obligations
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency and cost
• Maintain relationships with Engineering, Planning, Quality and Manufacturing teams

• Electronic / Electrical assembly

• Install field wiring and termination of motors, sensors, and smart devices
• Conduct and record product tests and diagnostic activities to support the production process
• Build small control panels for basic machine automation
• Use of power tools, manual handling
• Ensure all work complies with company procedures, engineering requirements and regulatory obligations
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency and cost
• Maintain effective working relationships with Engineering, Planning, Quality and Manufacturing teams
• Other duties as requested by Management

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• 2+ years of experience in a high reliability and quality manufacturing operating environment, ideally within the aerospace industry
• Fundamental knowledge of mechatronic, battery, avionic or electrical systems

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Knowledge of temperature, pressure, and flow measurement devices, mechanical and electrical systems, and propulsion systems
• Skill in operating and manipulating machinery with great manual dexterity
• Experience with forklifts, cranes, and heavy equipment
• Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with Engineering and Production
• Ability to rapidly adapt to changes in direction while working in a fast‑paced, challenging work environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Experience with configuration management, non‑conformance reporting, root‑cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
• NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred
