Job description

Our client, the Public Trustee is a statutory authority committed to safeguarding the financial and legal interests of South Australians, particularly those who are vulnerable or unable to manage their own affairs. Operating under the Attorney‑General’s Department, the Public Trustee provides professional services in estate administration, trust management, Will‑making, financial administration and taxation.

We are now seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager Taxation Services to lead the delivery of high‑quality, compliant and client‑focused tax services. This is a rare opportunity to lead a specialist branch within a respected statutory authority, where your expertise will directly support the financial wellbeing of vulnerable South Australians. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for strategic planning, operational leadership and the oversight of complex taxation matters including personal, trust and deceased estate returns, and play a key role in ensuring compliance, governance and service excellence.

This role demands a seasoned professional with a degree in accounting, commerce or law, and registration as a Tax Agent. You will bring deep technical knowledge, strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities and a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a high‑volume, high‑stakes environment. Your ability to manage risk, drive continuous improvement and deliver results with integrity will be key to your success, as will your ability to provide expert guidance across the organisation on taxation legislation, superannuation and compliance.

Interest is sought from professionals who lead with confidence, communicate with clarity and thrive on complexity. You will be a strategic thinker, a collaborative partner and a champion of public sector values. This role offers the opportunity to influence branch‑level strategy, lead the delivery of complex taxation services and manage a branch playing a vital role in safeguarding the financial wellbeing of South Australians.
