Job summary

Whitsunday Regional Council in Proserpine is seeking an experienced Manager Sports, Recreation and Community Development to lead sport, recreation, community development, events and associated infrastructure across the Whitsunday Region.

The role focuses on strengthening systems, improving service and contract management, and translating Council priorities into practical outcomes. Tertiary qualifications in Community Development or related fields are required.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Community Development, Sport and Recreation Management or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Regional Sports Park, aquatic services and a diverse community portfolio.
• Based in Proserpine and reporting to the Director Liveability and Development Services, the role leads sport and recreation, community development, events and associated infrastructure.
• Strengthening systems, improving service and contract management, and translating Council priorities into practical outcomes.
• Developing the operating model and progressing the Whitsunday Regional Sports Park.
• Progressing the aquatic facilities review and preparing for the planned 2027 procurement process.
