Job summary

State of Victoria in Ballarat is seeking a Manager, Professional Practice within Community Correctional Services to lead and develop case management practices for high-risk and complex cases on a fixed-term contract until 14 February 2027.

You will oversee staff development, drive evidence-based practices, supervise Professional Practice Advisers, and participate in after-hours Duty Director rotations, with salary range $116,413–$140,849 plus superannuation.

Job description

Fixed-term opportunity until 14/2/2027 based in Ballarat

Enhance the quality of case management practices within the Grampian Region

Salary $116,413 - $140,849 plus superannuation

Community Correctional Services (CCS) contributes to the safety of the community by applying practices that reduce reoffending and connecting offenders to programs, services and community

CCS provides management of offenders on court orders, serious sex offenders on post sentence supervision and prisoners on parole

Key responsibilities include:
  • Enhance the quality and effectiveness of case management through the provision of individual support and professional development for case management staff, supervisors and managers
  • Increase the application of evidence-based case management practice.
  • Supervise Professional Practice Advisers
  • Conduct regular case practice audits on staff and deliver regular practice forums and education sessions to embed best practices across the region.
  • The Manager, Professional Practice is required to participate in the on call after hours Duty Director system.
About you:
  • Extensive experience in the case management of complex and/or high-risk individuals.
  • Highly developed understanding of and experience in best practice initiatives in relation to risk management and therapeutic work with high risk and complex individuals.
  • Ability to create opportunities to improve knowledge of teams in the area of diversity and inclusion and amongst ccs staff.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include reference checks, nationally coordinated criminal history checks (NCCHC), and misconduct screening. Dependant on the role, other checks may include VicRoads checks, drivers licence checks, medical checks, Working with Children Checks, and Declaration of Private Interests (for executive and responsible officer roles).
