Job summary

Australian Retirement Trust seeks an experienced Manager, Product and Services Risk to provide independent Line 2 risk oversight across our Product and Services area. You will partner with senior leaders to strengthen risk practices, uplift capability, and enable confident business decision-making.

You’ll lead a team, embed risk controls, and contribute to governance forums while balancing innovation and resilience. This permanent role is based in Australia with hybrid work options.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in enterprise risk management frameworks, methodologies and controls.
• Experience in operational risk, compliance and risk governance within complex organisations.
• Embedding risk practices within strategic programmes or transformations.
• Ability to independently review and challenge risks related to products, services and strategy.
• Strong knowledge of APRA Prudential Standards and control assurance processes.

Join Australian Retirement Trust as our Manager, Product and Services Risk. In this influential leadership role, you'll provide independent Line 2 risk oversight, advice and challenge across our Product and Services business area. You'll partner with senior leaders to strengthen risk management practices, uplift risk capability, support strategic initiatives, and help ensure risks are effectively identified, managed and reported while enabling confident business decision-making.

As a Manager, Product and Services Risk, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting our Product and Services teams through independent Line 2 risk oversight, advice and challenge. You'll help ensure risks are effectively identified, assessed, managed and reported in line with our Risk Management Framework, regulatory obligations and risk appetite settings.

You’ll partner with senior leaders and executives, providing trusted guidance on risk implications while balancing innovation, governance and operational resilience. You’ll also lead a talented team and contribute to a strong risk culture that enables confident decision‑making across the business.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment, navigating complex change, and influencing stakeholders across multiple levels of an organisation.

This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you’ll:

• Provide expert Line 2 risk oversight across the Product and Services business area.
• Review and challenge risk assessments, controls and mitigation strategies to ensure alignment with the Risk Management Framework.
• Advise leaders and executives on risk implications and support sound decision‑making.
• Lead or participate in governance forums and contribute to executive and board risk reporting.
• Partner with first and third line teams to support effective risk management and assurance activities.
• Drive a strong risk culture through coaching, leadership and capability uplift initiatives.
• Lead and develop team members within an inclusive, high‑performing environment.
• Deliver targeted assurance activities to assess the effectiveness of key controls and risk management practices.

Qualifications

It goes without saying you’ll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We’ll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It’s quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

• You have deep expertise in enterprise risk management frameworks, methodologies and controls.
• Your experience includes operational risk, compliance and risk governance within complex organisations.
• You’ll have successfully embedded risk practices within strategic programmes, initiatives or transformation activities.
• You're confident independently reviewing and challenging risks associated with products, services and business strategy.
• You bring strong knowledge of APRA Prudential Standards, compliance frameworks and control assurance processes.
• Your ability to work through ambiguity and adapt to changing priorities sets you apart.
• You’ll hold a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent professional experience.
• You're experienced in developing risk controls, assessments and mitigation strategies, with exposure to incident management or risk analytics considered advantageous.
