Deloitte Australia is expanding its Sustainability and Climate Change practice in Sydney. You will help leading organisations uplift climate, sustainability and ESG reporting while providing robust assurance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in sustainability, finance, risk, strategy or Audit and Assurance roles to uplift climate, sustainability and ESG reporting and provide robust assurance.
• Strong oral and written communication, including presentations and facilitation.
• Structured problem-solving skills and ability to design project approaches and lead delivery.

Responsibilities

• Deliver advisory, audit or assurance engagements involving reporting, governance, controls or risk management.
• Apply knowledge of sustainability and climate reporting frameworks (AASB S2, ISSB, TCFD, GRI, SASB).
• Understand assurance methodologies and challenges in preparing sustainability disclosures.
• Support organisations in responding to evolving regulatory reporting requirements; manage teams and work autonomously.

About Our Sustainability And Climate Change Team

Our highly diverse and multi-disciplinary team combines deep subject matter expertise, assurance capabilities, strategic thinking, and data and technology expertise to help organisations respond to evolving sustainability and regulatory reporting requirements.

Our practice supports clients across the full reporting lifecycle, from strategy and reporting readiness through to assurance and ongoing compliance. Our experience spans Climate and Sustainability Reporting, Sustainability Assurance, Regulatory Reporting Advisory, Internal Audit, ESG Governance and Controls, Climate Risk, Decarbonisation Strategy, Human Rights and Modern Slavery, across a broad range of advisory and assurance engagements.

About Our Work

As a member of our Sustainability and Climate Change team, you will work with a variety of leading organisations to navigate rapidly evolving sustainability and regulatory reporting requirements. You will help clients design and implement reporting frameworks, strengthen governance and controls, conduct climate risk and opportunity assessments, prepare climate and sustainability disclosures, and provide confidence through assurance and readiness reviews.

We support clients across a broad range of advisory and assurance services, including:

• Climate and sustainability reporting readiness for AASB S2, ISSB and other regulatory reporting requirements
• Sustainability reporting governance, risk management and internal control frameworks
• Pre-assurance and assurance readiness assessments across sustainability disclosures and metrics
• Sustainability and climate assurance engagements
• Development and review of ESG, climate and sustainability reporting processes and controls
• Climate-related financial disclosures, scenario analysis and transition planning
• ESG data management, technology enablement and reporting solutions
• Sustainability internal audits and independent reviews
• ESG materiality assessments and sustainability reporting strategy
• GHG emissions reporting
• ESG strategy development and stress-testing of corporate strategy through an ESG lens
• Sustainable Finance, Nature-based Solutions and Biodiversity, Resilience
• Modern Slavery and human rights due diligence, risk assessments and disclosure

We are looking for a professional with 5+ years of relevant experience, include in-house or consulting roles in sustainability, finance, risk, strategy and/or Audit and Assurance backgrounds to join our practice, specifically supporting a range of clients across diverse sectors to uplift and enhance their climate, sustainability and ESG reporting and to provide robust assurance.

Your combined structured thinking, subject matter expertise and passion for the field will help shape opportunities, support sales and end-to-end project delivery. You will need to:

• Have strong oral and written communication skills (including presentations, workshopping, and facilitation);
• Apply structured problem-solving, technical skills and knowledge to design project approach and lead delivery;
• Experience delivering advisory, audit or assurance engagements involving reporting, governance, controls or risk management;
• Knowledge of sustainability and climate reporting frameworks and standards, including AASB S2, IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards (ISSB), TCFD, GRI and SASB;
• An understanding of assurance methodologies and the practical challenges organisations face in preparing sustainability disclosures;
• Experience supporting organisations to respond to emerging regulatory reporting requirements; and
• Experience managing teams and working autonomously.
