Job summary

The NSW Department of Communities and Justice, through the Joint Child Protection Response Program (JCPRP), is seeking experienced managers to lead casework teams across NSW. As a member of the JCPR Team you will supervise staff, work with NSW Police and NSW Health, and ensure coordinated services to vulnerable children, young people and families.

Manager Casework JCPRP

This is a Talent Pool recruitment for future Ongoing and Temporary opportunities that may arise across our Joint Child Protection Response Program (JCPRP) locations across NSW.

Locations: Ballina, Bathurst, Blacktown, Coffs Harbour, Dubbo, Gosford, Liverpool, Newcastle, Port Macquarie, Queanbeyan, Strawberry Hills, Tamworth, Wagga Wagga grouping (includes Wagga Wagga, Albury & Griffith), Wollongong

Salary: Grade 9/10, $133,348 - $146,945 pa p.a. + superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role

The Joint Child Protection Response Program (JCPRP) links the risk assessment and protective intervention of DCJ with the criminal investigation of NSW Police and the forensic medical, treatment and support services of NSW Health. The program delivers a multidisciplinary response to serious child abuse matters across NSW.

What You’ll Do

As part of the JCPR Team you will lead and supervise a team of caseworkers and work in collaboration with the NSW Police and NSW Health to provide coordinated services to vulnerable children, young people and families.

You will lead by example and demonstrate the principles of the Joint Child Protection Response Program and work to meet program objectives. You will value interagency partnership, workforce diversity and prioritise safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and young people.

You will ensure that children and young people remain the focus of assessments and make decisions, to ensure they are protected from further trauma and that they receive protective, therapeutic and other support services as determined.

What We’re Looking For

• Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Social Science, Welfare or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in applying best practice casework with children, young people and their families.
• Experience leading and managing teams in complex and challenging situations, including a high-volume work area.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving skills
• A valid driver’s licence, as travel is a requirement of the role.
