Job summary

ACCIONA Energía Waubra Wind Farm in Victoria, Australia is seeking an experienced Major Components Technician. You will support major corrective maintenance across our wind farm portfolio and ensure reliability of assets while working both at Waubra and other sites as required.

Typical hours are Monday to Friday days with occasional overtime and on‑call roster; you will help train technicians, participate in safety practices, and travel between sites as needed to apply specialist expertise.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in mechanical fitting or similar.
• Experience in wind energy or heavy industry preferred.
• Proven fault-finding and repair skills.
• Willingness to travel between sites and work at heights.
• GWO, First Aid, and Working at Heights certifications (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Perform major component inspections, repairs and replacements.
• Assess gearbox and drivetrain components.
• Conduct endoscope and videoscope inspections.
• Oversee blade inspections and structural health monitoring.
• Support major maintenance campaigns and planned shutdowns.
• Mentor wind farm technicians and share best practices.

ACCIONA Energía is seeking an experienced Major Components Technician to join our Operations team. Based at the Waubra Wind Farm, this specialist role supports major corrective maintenance and component lifecycle management across our wind farm portfolio in Victoria and NSW.

This is an opportunity to become one of our technical experts, sharing knowledge across sites, supporting technicians and helping maintain the reliability of some of Australia's largest renewable energy assets.

As a member of a multi-skilled team, you'll spend your time both supporting your home site (Waubra Wind Farm) and travelling to other wind farms where specialist expertise is required. The regular hours are Monday-Friday days, with overtime occasionally associated with major maintenance programs and participation in an on‑call roster on an occasional basis.

Job Description

Whilst you actively engage in ACCIONA's Health & Safety practices, take personal responsibility for maintaining a safe and secure workplace, and support the people around you in upholding these standards, you will be involved in:

• Major component inspections, repairs and replacements
• Gearbox, main shaft and drivetrain assessments
• Endoscope and videoscope inspections
• Blade inspections and structural health monitoring
• Up‑tower repairs and corrective maintenance activities
• Managing major component change‑outs alongside specialist contractors and crane providers
• Supporting planned shutdowns and large corrective maintenance campaigns
• Training and mentoring wind farm technicians
• Sharing technical expertise and best practice across multiple ACCIONA sites
• Supporting ongoing reliability improvement initiatives

Required Skills And Competencies

• Mechanical trade qualifications (Fitter & Turner, Mechanical Fitter or similar)
• Experience in wind energy will be highly regarded whilst heavy industry, mining, power generation or similar experience will be considered
• Experience with major component maintenance and repairs and strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault‑finding skills
• Working at Heights, First Aid and GWO certifications (or willingness to obtain)
• Someone willingly supports others, shares expertise, and contributes to a positive, respectful and healthy team culture
• Strong safety focus and commitment to quality
• Ability to work independently and travel between sites when required
• A current driver's license
• In compliance with Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) Act 2018, this role is defined as critical worker and labelled at ACCIONA Energia as a Privileged Access Worker (PAW). Privileged Access Workers (PAW's) are required to obtain satisfactory results from Acciona's Suitability Assessment prior to commencement, this forms part of our standard pre‑employment checks.
