Job summary

Vinidex in Toowoomba seeks a Maintenance Planner and Purchasing Officer to join our manufacturing team. You will plan, schedule, and coordinate day-to-day maintenance activities and annual shutdowns, ensuring resources and contractors have what they need to work safely and efficiently.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will manage spare parts inventory, issue purchase orders, and support reliability improvements in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or trade qualification with 2–3 years in a similar manufacturing role.
• Hands-on, flexible candidate who can coordinate contractors.
• Proficient in CMMS and ERP systems and purchase order processes.
• Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Utilise CMMS to document work and manage spare parts inventory.
• Plan annual maintenance shutdowns and allocate resources.
• Coordinate contractors and ensure safety and compliance.
• Attend production meetings and assist Maintenance Manager as needed.
• Support purchasing activities and invoice management.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Planner and Purchasing Officer, to join our supportive team at our Toowoomba Vinidex manufacturing operations. Ideally you will come from a similar role and enjoy working in a fast paced and innovative manufacturing environment, experience in managing the spare parts inventory and purchasing requirements for maintenance and production. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, your day will also include working hands on where needed and rolling up your sleeves to plan, schedule, and coordinate the day-to-day maintenance activities, and annual shutdowns, ensuring the maintenance team, contractors have everything they need including resources, to get the job done safely and efficiently to optimise performance and reliability.

What will you do?

• Plan and co-ordinate all preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance activities including contractors, and supporting preparation of JSEA and issuing High risk Work Permits to ensure safety is at the forefront of everything we do.
• Utilise MEX to plan preventative maintenance works, document all completed maintenance activities and maintain critical spare register and stock levels.
• Optimise the preventative maintenance program to improve equipment reliability and production OEE performance.
• Manage inventory of critical spare parts and maintenance/production consumables and adhoc purchasing as required, ensuring correct allocation of purchase orders and invoicing to the appropriate accounts.
• Plan and coordinate annual maintenance shut down work and day to day maintenance activities including scope of works.
• Attend all production meetings and stand in for the Maintenance manager when on leave

About you

• Ideally you will have an Engineering degree (nice to have) or trade qualification with 2-3 years’ experience working in a similar role within a Manufacturing, FMCG or Mining environment.
• Be hands on and flexible to coordinate and organise contractors and assist the maintenance team when needed.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Demonstrated experience in planning & supporting maintenance activities including annual shutdowns and preventative maintenance
• Proficient in using systems including CMMS (MEX or equivalent), ERP (SAP advantageous)
• Experience raising purchase orders, invoice management and running spare parts inventory
• Exceptional time management and coordination skills, able to prioritise and be agile with a high level of attention to detail.
• Team player with a positive outlook, have strong relationship building skills, results driven and enjoys trouble shooting to find the best solution.
• Understands equipment maintenance management (extrusion process advantageous).
