Job summary

RSL LifeCare is seeking a Maintenance & Gardening Assistant to support our aged care homes in Tea Gardens. You will help keep buildings safe and outdoor spaces welcoming for residents, visitors and staff.

This permanent full-time role requires practical maintenance and gardening skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to liaise with contractors. NSW driver license is preferred to support site mobility.

Qualifications

• Previous maintenance experience preferred, ideally within aged care, however this is not essential.
• Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Current NSW Driver Licence and ability to drive Manual
• Basic computer skills.
• A genuine ability to engage positively with older people on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive and planned preventative maintenance activities.
• Maintain the home and grounds to a high standard.
• Work in a fast-paced team environment where no two days are the same.
• Liaise and work alongside contractors, ensuring compliance requirements are met.
• Undertake general maintenance and repairs, including patching, painting, replacing light globes and basic building maintenance tasks.
• Complete required paperwork, documentation and system updates.
• Maintain lawns, gardens and outdoor spaces, contributing to an attractive and welcoming environment for residents.

As a mandatory requirement for working in the aged care sector, successful applicants must hold or obtain a valid RSL LifeCare Police Check and/or a valid National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Check as required for the role. All clearances must be verified prior to commencement.
