Job summary

Bega Cheese in Penrith, NSW, is seeking a Maintenance Fitter for a 12-month fixed-term contract to support the performance and reliability of production equipment. The role is hands-on and focuses on safe operations, product quality and site performance.

The position offers a rotating 12-hour day shift (5:00 AM–5:00 PM) and 10-hour night shift (5:00 PM–3:00 AM), including weekends. Potential transition to permanent full-time for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Cert III in Mechanical Engineering or relevant trade qualification (essential).
• Experience in FMCG or manufacturing, ideally with dairy processing or packaging equipment.
• Strong problem-solving capability, with a practical approach to identifying root causes and improving performance.
• Understanding of asset care and maintenance systems, with a focus on reliability and consistency.
• A collaborative, team-focused approach, with clear communication and the ability to build positive working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and safety.
• Responding to breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise downtime.
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and reliability programs.
• Supporting new equipment installations and providing technical input during commissioning.
• Ensuring all work is completed in line with engineering, safety, and food quality standards.
