Job summary

Woods Grain Pty Ltd in Goondiwindi, Queensland is seeking a qualified Maintenance Fitter to join our maintenance team. This hands-on role supports our grain handling, processing and packing operations, performing preventive maintenance, fault-finding and repairs to keep the plant operating safely and efficiently.

The role reports to the Maintenance Planning Coordinator and offers a base salary of $79,423 per annum, plus superannuation and overtime.

Qualifications

• Recognised trade qualification as a Fitter, Fitter Turner or Fitter/Mechanic.
• At least two years' industrial maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and preventative maintenance skills.
• Current driver's licence and forklift licence.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and servicing of production equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and complete timely repairs.
• Maintain conveyors, packing equipment and fixed plant.
• Plan maintenance using the MEX system and coordinate with Operations.
• Assist in maintenance planning and plant improvement projects.

Woods Grain Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our maintenance team in Goondiwindi.

This is a hands-on role supporting our grain handling, processing and packing operations. Reporting to the Maintenance Planning Coordinator, you will undertake preventative maintenance, fault-finding and repairs to help keep the plant operating safely, reliably and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Complete preventative maintenance and servicing of production equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and complete timely repairs.
• Repair, replace, fit and assemble machinery components and parts.
• Maintain conveyors, augers, elevators, packing equipment and other fixed production plant.
• Complete scheduled preventative maintenance activities through the MEX maintenance system.
• Inspect production equipment and identify emerging maintenance requirements.
• Work with Operations personnel to prioritise maintenance and minimise production disruption.
• Assist with the planning and implementation of maintenance and plant improvement projects.
• Maintain appropriate stock levels of maintenance parts and consumables.
• Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained, accounted for and removed from production areas after work is completed.
• Contribute to the ongoing review and improvement of plant reliability and effectiveness.
• Follow workplace health and safety, isolation, permit, GMP and site procedures.

Qualifications and experience

To be considered for this position, you will need:

• A recognised trade qualification as a Fitter, Fitter and Turner or Fitter/Mechanic, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• At least two years of demonstrated experience in an industrial, production or facilities maintenance environment.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding, repair and preventative maintenance skills.
• A current driver's licence.
• A current forklift licence.
• Sound planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance.
• The ability to work independently with limited supervision and as part of a broader team.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work constructively with Operations and other departments.
• The physical capacity to safely perform the inherent requirements of the position.
• A reliable, motivated and safety-focused approach to work.

Experience in grain handling, food or feed manufacturing, agricultural processing or a similar production environment will be highly regarded.

Hours and remuneration

This is a full-time position based in Goondiwindi, Queensland.

The position provides:

• Base salary of $79,423 per annum.
• Superannuation in addition to the base salary.
• A minimum of 38 ordinary hours per week.
• Overtime and weekend work as operationally required.
• Payment for overtime in addition to the base salary, in accordance with applicable workplace arrangements.
• A roster to be advised.
