Job summary

Randstad is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to join our client’s on-site maintenance execution team in Woolloongabba, Brisbane. You will perform first-line investigations, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs across plant utilities, manufacturing equipment, and support facilities within a GMP cleanroom environment.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification or Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automation Engineering.
• Restricted Electrical License is preferred.
• 3+ years of maintenance experience in regulated industries (pharma, hospital, food processing).
• Experience with HVAC, Steam, Compressed Air and industrial automation systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain technical manufacturing equipment, plant utilities, and facility systems in a GMP cleanroom.
• Perform planned preventive maintenance, monitoring, and corrective actions to maximise uptime.
• Respond to BMS alarms, breakdowns, and facility issues across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.
• Participate in investigations, root cause analyses, and continuous improvement activities.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a hands‑on Maintenance Engineer to join our client's on‑site maintenance execution team in Woolloongabba, Brisbane. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting first‑line investigations, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs across plant utilities, manufacturing equipment, and support facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain technical manufacturing equipment, plant utilities, and facility systems within a GMP cleanroom environment.

• Perform planned preventive maintenance, routine monitoring, and corrective actions to maximize uptime and asset reliability.

• Respond to Building Management System (BMS) alarms, breakdowns, and facility issues across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems.

• Participate in engineering investigations, root cause analysis, reliability assessments, and FMEA activities to drive continuous improvement.

• Assist with quality deviation investigations and ensure full compliance with GMP, Quality Assurance, and EHS requirements.

• Troubleshoot electrical systems within the scope of licensing and competency.

Skills & Experience Required

• Trade qualification or Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automation Engineering. A Restricted Electrical License is preferred.

• 3+ years of maintenance experience within pharmaceutical, hospital, food processing, or related regulated industries.

• Hands‑on experience with equipment/utilities (HVAC, Steam, Compressed Air) and industrial automation systems (PLCs, BMS, SCADA). Experience in a GMP cleanroom – desirable.

• Strong mechanical/electrical fault‑finding capabilities, working knowledge of EHS standards, and familiarity with CMMS.
