Job summary

Merlin Entertainments is hiring a Maintenance Assistant for SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast. The role involves hands-on maintenance across facilities, with daily tasks spanning carpentry, plumbing, lighting and general repairs to keep the aquarium running smoothly.

You will work closely with the Head of Facilities and Operations to implement maintenance programs while ensuring safety and high guest experience standards are met. This is a full-time on-site position at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast.

Qualifications

• Hands-on maintenance experience in a busy facility environment.
• Ability to perform general carpentry, plumbing and basic repairs.
• Strong safety awareness and adherence to procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day maintenance of SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast.
• Carry out general, corrective and preventative maintenance across facilities and equipment.
• Maintain interior and exterior of the building, including lighting.
• Repair structures and support pumps and displays as needed.
• Inspect work to ensure quality and safety standards.
• Support external contractors and Operations team as required.

We currently have a fantastic opportunity to join our team as aMaintenance Assistant at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast.

About the Role

We are seeking afull-timeMaintenance Assistantto join the SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast team. Working closely with the Head of Facilities and Operations team, you will provide essential maintenance support across the aquarium, helping to ensure our facilities, buildings, grounds and equipment are safe, functional and maintained to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with the day-to-day maintenance of SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast and the implementation of ongoing maintenance programs.

Carry out general, corrective and preventative maintenance across facilities, buildings, grounds and equipment, including basic carpentry and plumbing tasks.

Maintain the interior and exterior of the building and building services, including lighting and painting.

Repair and maintain structures including showers, floors, sinks, walls and carpets.

Assist with the maintenance of pumps and provide support with displays and general maintenance.

Activate and deactivate building alarms and report mechanical malfunctions for action.

Assist external contractors and support the Operations team with operational requirements.

Inspect maintenance jobs to ensure they have been completed to the required specifications and standard.

Complete monthly and weekly equipment checks and assist with general maintenance and project tasks as required.

Support a safe environment by identifying, reporting and helping to resolve health and safety issues.

You have a broad knowledge of building maintenance and enjoy getting hands-on with a variety of tasks.

You are energetic, flexible and proactive, with the ability to use your initiative and solve problems effectively.

You are a strong communicator who builds positive relationships and works well with different teams and external contractors.

You are reliable and resilient, with the ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm under pressure.
