Job summary

Glencore's Ulan West operation seeks an Automation Lead to drive the longwall department's automation, ensuring secure OT networks and robust control systems across Komatsu equipment. Reporting to Engineering, you will deliver world-class management of mission-critical mining automation.

You will lead proactive automation initiatives, build cross-functional relationships, and develop site resources to design and maintain advanced longwall automation. Residential, onsite work only.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in electrical, mechanical or software engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of modern longwall operation and OT networks.
• Experience leading automation projects in mining environments.

Responsibilities

About Ulan West

The Role

Lead, drive and develop the Automation across the longwall department to assist in continuous business improvement. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for delivering world class management and security of mission critical mining systems and the supporting automation systems used across the Ulan West Longwall.

Ulan West operates a world class longwall with a surface control room with remote operation and management of the shearer; powered roof supports and coal clearance.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include the implementation of GCAA/Ulan West standards for the operational technology (OT) networks. You will support process control networks, SCADA and Control and Automation systems for Komatsu Shearers, Komatsu Power Roof Supports (RS20S), Komatsu PLC control BSL/AFC and Ampcontrol Power and Control. You will be a member of the first response team for issues with Longwall automation, OT networks and applications, using your skills to rapidly restore functionality when issues arise.

Working proactively, you will establish broad relationships such that you can effectively troubleshoot issues and influence outcomes. You will complete these duties with a focus on building the capacity of site resources to design, develop and maintain the longwall automation systems.

It would also be advantageous to hold a tertiary qualification in electrical or mechanical or software engineering or other relevant field, at either Advanced Diploma or Bachelor level. You must have a demonstrated and in-depth knowledge of the operation of a modern longwall.
