Job summary

Pacific National, Australia’s largest private rail freight operator, is seeking safety-focused locomotive drivers to join our Queensland Coal teams in Sarina, Coppabella, Gracemere and Gladstone. You will operate heavy haul trains, deliver critical freight, and support reliable services across regional Queensland.

This role includes comprehensive training, industry-leading safety practices, competitive remuneration, and Rostering designed for a balanced regional lifestyle with career development

Qualifications

• Requires Certificate IV in Train Driving and full Australian working rights.
• Valid unrestricted Class C licence with reliable transport.
• Must pass QldSafe Working, medical, and drug/alcohol checks.
• National Police Check required.
• Willingness to work a 24/7 rotating roster.

Responsibilities

• Prioritise safety in every moment on the job.
• Complete pre-start checks and compliance documents.
• Prepare, operate and shutdown locomotives in line with procedures.
• Maintain clear, professional communication in safety critical environments.
• Monitor train performance and respond to changing conditions.
• Work with teams to deliver safe, reliable outcomes for customers.
