selectability - mental wellbeing and suicide prevention is seeking a Peer Support Worker for a casual position based in Townsville. The role draws on lived experience to deliver group activities and recovery-focused programs with a compassionate, person-centred approach.

You will support individuals with mental health challenges, promote access to services, and build strong community partnerships, while adhering to trauma-informed practice and equity in health outcomes.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with mental health recovery.
• Certificate IV in Mental Health or equivalent (desirable).
• Current nationally recognised first aid and CPR certificates (or the ability to obtain).
• Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (or the ability to obtain).
• NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or the ability to obtain).
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module "Quality, Safety & You" completion certificate (or the ability to obtain).
• Current minimum P1 "C" class Queensland drivers licence
• Roadworthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance

Responsibilities

• Providing empathetic, person-centred support to individuals living with mental health challenges
• Enhancing access to mental health services and improving health outcomes across the region, with a focus on equity and inclusion
• Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with community members and key stakeholders
• Reducing reliance on acute and intensive mental health services by supporting early intervention and recovery strategies
• Contributing to the development and delivery of recovery-oriented group programs grounded in lived experience
• Facilitating group-based activities that promote connection, skill-building, and mental wellbeing
