Job summary

Auriga Aviation, a recognised leader in Helicopter Marine Pilot Transfer (HMPT) services across Australia, seeks an HMPT Captain to join the Flight Operations team in Newcastle, NSW. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft while complying with CASA regulations and Auriga's Safety Management System.

The role requires leadership, a strong safety focus and the ability to work across day, night, IFR and NVIS missions, with ongoing training and professional

Qualifications

  • Current Australian ATPL(H) or CPL(H) required.
  • Current CASA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Extensive IMC and NVIS operational experience.
  • EC135 type rating required.
  • 2000 hours Total Time Helicopter; 1500 hours PIC; 150 hours Instrument/Night Flight.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Captain on HMPT operations from Newcastle.
  • Conduct day, night, IFR and NVIS flights per CASA regulations and procedures.
  • Perform pre-flight planning, aircraft inspections, navigation, and records maintenance.
  • Conduct marine pilot transfers and other rotorcraft operations under the AOC.
  • Support base operations and contribute to Safety Management System and risk management.
  • Participate in recurrent training and professional development programs.

Auriga Aviation is seeking a suitably qualified HMPT Captain to join our Flight Operations team working from Newcastle, NSW. Reporting to the Head of Flight Operations, this position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of company aircraft while maintaining compliance with CASA regulations, company procedures, and Auriga Aviation's Safety Management System.

We are seeking aviation professionals who demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, teamwork, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as Captain on company-operated helicopters conducting HMPT operations from Newcastle.
  • Conduct helicopter operations by day, night, IFR and NVIS in accordance with company procedures and CASA regulations.
  • Perform pre-flight planning, aircraft inspections, navigation, and operational duties to the highest safety standards.
  • Conduct marine pilot transfers and other rotorcraft operations as required under the Air Operator's Certificate (AOC).
  • Support base operations and administrative activities as required.
  • Maintain accurate flight logs and aircraft records.
  • Actively contribute to Auriga Aviation's Safety Management System, including proactive safety reporting and risk management.
  • Participate in recurrent training, checking, and professional development programs to maintain operational proficiency.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • Current Australian ATPL(H) or CPL(H).
  • Current CASA Class 1 Medical Certificate.
  • Demonstrated proficiency operating in IMC and NVIS environments.
  • Extensive understanding of CASA regulations and aviation operational compliance requirements.
  • Ability to undertake operational shifts in accordance with the responsibilities of an HMPT Line Captain residential in Newcastle.
