Job summary

Coolon LED Lighting in Melbourne is seeking a Lighting Designer to join our team on a full-time basis. This role focuses on project applications, not luminaire design.

You will use lighting design and modelling software to develop layouts, perform photometric calculations and apply Coolon products to Industrial and Architectural projects. Qualifications

• Experience or training in lighting design and photometric calculations.
• Experience with AGi32 and/or DIALux.
• Experience with Navisworks or other 3D modelling software is highly regarded.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical and engineering drawings.
• Understanding of lighting principles such as illuminance, uniformity, glare, light distribution and shadowing.
• Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to your work.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with different disciplines.
• Previous experience with industrial, architectural, mining, infrastructure or other complex lighting applications is highly regarded.
• MIES membership, or eligibility to work towards membership, is preferred.
• RLP accreditation is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Prepare lighting layouts, concepts, photometric calculations and technical documentation for Industrial and Architectural applications.
• Use AGi32, DIALux and other lighting design software to assess light levels, uniformity and overall lighting performance.
• Interpret architectural and engineering drawings, project briefs, specifications and site conditions, considering structures, equipment, shadowing and mounting constraints.
• Develop practical lighting solutions using 2D drawings and 3D models, including Navisworks where required.
• Select suitable Coolon lighting products, optics, mounting arrangements and control options to achieve the required technical, functional and architectural outcomes.
• Work with clients, consultants, architects, engineers and internal sales and project teams, providing lighting design advice and supporting projects through to delivery.
• Keep up to date with lighting technology, controls, relevant standards and industry best practice.

About the Role

We are looking for a Lighting Designer to join our team on a full-time basis.

This is a lighting design role focused on project applications, not luminaire or lighting product design. You will use lighting design and modelling software to develop lighting layouts, undertake photometric calculations and simulations, and apply Coolon products to real-world Industrial and Architectural projects.

We welcome applications from lighting designers with relevant industry experience, as well as candidates with a strong technical foundation who are ready to further develop their lighting design expertise.

You will work across Industrial and Architectural projects, ranging from architectural spaces to complex industrial environments, including mining and processing facilities, multi-level structures and large equipment areas.
