Ranger has been inspecting, testing and certifying lifting, rigging and height safety equipment for over 20 years. With five sites and more than 60 people across NSW, QLD and VIC, we’ve got the systems, training and backup to help you do the job well.
Our Newcastle branch is growing fast, and we’re adding an inspector to the team. You’ll work to the same proven procedures as our other branches, with experienced people around you to learn from.
Why this one’s worth your time
- Real work that matters. You’ll inspect, test and certify the lifting, rigging and height safety gear used across the regions mines, construction sites and industrial plants.
- A ute, phone and tablet. Once you’re trained up, you’ll get a tools-of-trade vehicle, phone, tablet and uniform.
- You’ll be trained properly. Our experienced inspectors will mentor you, and we’ll back you through industry training.
- There’s a path up. As the Newcastle technical team grows, so does the room to step up into a team leader role.
- Family owned and independent. You’ll be part of a tight local team, not a number in a big corporate.
What you’ll be doing
Inspection and testing
- Inspecting and testing lifting, rigging and height safety equipment, both in our workshop and on customer sites
- Load testing gear with our in-house and on-site testing equipment
- Tagging equipment as compliant with Australian Standards and customer requirements
- Recording results, measurements and findings in RIG, our inspection portal, on a tablet
Repairs, workshop and installs
- Repairing and replacing gear after inspection
- Workshop and production work as needed
- Height safety installations on site
Looking after customers
- Giving customers clear, honest advice on their gear and what they need
- Building strong relationships with the sites you look after
- Helping run training and product demonstrations for customers
What we’re looking for
Experience helps. A good attitude and a mechanical mind matter more.
You’ll need
- A current driver’s licence
- To be comfortable working at heights
- Strong attention to detail. Your records have to be right every time.
- The confidence to work on your own and deal with customers on site
- To be comfortable using a tablet and basic software
- Clear written and verbal communication
- A safety-first mindset, every time
- To be happy travelling to regional sites from time to time
It’ll put you ahead if you have
- Experience inspecting lifting, rigging or height safety equipment
- LEEA certificates or a LEEA TEAM Card
- Hands-on mechanical experience, whether in a workshop, on site or on the tools
- A forklift licence (LF)
- An EWP ticket
- A working at heights ticket
- A White Card
Inspection is a specialised field, and we know experienced people are hard to find. If you’ve done this work before, we want to hear from you, and we’ll recognise what you bring. If you haven’t, but you’re good with your hands, mechanically minded and have the right attitude, we’ll train you.
What’s in it for you
- A full-time role
- Tools-of-trade vehicle, phone, tablet and uniform once you’re trained
- Full training and mentoring from experienced inspectors
- A real career path in a branch that’s going places
- A team that looks after each other
We know changing jobs isn’t always easy, so we guarantee confidentiality.
