Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a hands-on LiDAR/GIS specialist to process aerial LiDAR and point cloud data for utility infrastructure projects in Sydney. You will classify features, extract assets such as poles, conductors and vegetation, and ensure data quality across large spatial datasets.

A 1–4 year background in LiDAR, basic GIS skills, and experience with TerraSolid, TerraScan, PLS‑CADD or MicroStation are desired. You’ll support engineers with asset modeling and clearance analyses.

Qualifications

• 1–4 years of LiDAR/point cloud processing experience.
• Hands-on experience with point cloud classification and QA/QC.
• Experience with 3D spatial data and basic GIS knowledge.
• Experience with feature extraction from LiDAR data.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify data-quality issues.
• Experience with utility, power infrastructure data is nice to have.
• Experience with aerial LiDAR is nice to have.
• Experience with conductors, poles/towers, vegetation, and ground classes is nice to have.
• Experience with PLS-CADD, TerraSolid/TerraScan, or MicroStation is nice to have.
• Experience with utility asset modeling or powerline mapping is nice to have.

Responsibilities

• Process, classify, and validate aerial LiDAR and point cloud data.
• Extract and model utility assets including lines, poles, towers, vegetation, and ground features.
• Analyze large-scale spatial and 3D datasets for infrastructure projects.
• Identify and address data-quality issues in datasets.
