Mercor is seeking a Domain Expert – Legal (Lexis+ Research) to join our remote team. You will verify case law, statutes, and regulations for accuracy and currency, using Lexis+ and Shepard's/KeyCite to ensure reliable authorities.

The role requires 2+ years of professional legal research, a J.D. and bar admission or equivalent, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting. This contract position offers an hourly rate of $76–$120.

Qualifications

• Frequent Lexis+ use - weekly or more for substantive legal research.
• 2+ years of professional legal-research experience.
• Reflexive Shepard's/KeyCite use; can spot a bad cite, misstated holding, or superseded statute on sight
• J.D. and bar admission, MLIS / law librarian, or equivalent research-heavy experience

Responsibilities

• Confirm every case, statute, and regulation is still good law for the point cited.
• Catch non-existent or misdescribed cases and verify quotes, holdings, and pin cites.
• Judge completeness by ensuring controlling authority is found and on-point cases are not missed.
• Verify currency by checking the version of the law in force on the operative date.
• Distinguish binding vs. persuasive authority; require verify-before-finalize.
