Job summary

Pacific National is seeking safety‑mocused Level 2 Assistant Drivers to join our Coal and Bulk team in Gunnedah, NSW. After onboarding, you will complete Engine & Air school and be trained as a Level 4 Locomotive Driver.

Qualifications

• Must hold Level 2 Assistant Driver qualification and NSW Safe Working credentials.

Responsibilities

• Prioritise safety in every moment and on every shift.
• Complete pre-start checks and required compliance paperwork.
• Prepare, operate and shut down locomotives per procedures.
• Maintain clear, professional communication in safety critical environments.
• Monitor train performance and respond to changing conditions.
• Collaborate with teams to deliver safe, reliable outcomes for customers.

What we’re looking for:

• Full Australian working rights
• Level 2 Assistant Driver nationally recognised qualifications
• NSW Safe Working qualifications (Train Order will be advantageous)
• Valid unrestricted Class C licence and reliable transport
• Category 1 Rail Medical, Musculoskeletal assessment, and ongoing drug/alcohol compliance
• National Police Check
• A strong, proven commitment to safety
• Ability to work a 24/7 rotating roster
• Flexibility to meet operational demands
