Legal Support Officer. Full time, ongoing permanent position. Applications close on 11:59pm Wednesday, 7 October 2026.About the role:As a Legal Support Officer, you will provide essential administrative and legal support to solicitors within a particular division, ensuring matters progress efficiently and accurately. You will work closely with legal and administrative colleagues in a collaborative team environment and liaise with a broad range of stakeholders across the justice sector.This role is responsible for managing documentation relating to criminal appeals, coordinating information and briefs from stakeholders, maintaining case management systems, and supporting the preparation of court and legal documents.You will:Provide legal and administrative support to solicitors and the broader division.Maintain accurate records, databases, spreadsheets and the OPP case management system.Prepare and compile legal documentation, including hand-up briefs, depositions, eBriefs and court materials.Assist with file management, file closure processes and document preparation.Liaise effectively with Victoria Police, Corrections Victoria, counsel, legal practitioners, government agencies and other stakeholders.Prepare correspondence and assist with court-related documentation.Respond to telephone enquiries and act as a key point of contact within the division.Issue subpoenas and respond to related enquiries.Assist with filing, mail distribution, photocopying and the preparation of court books.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support projects that enhance operational effectiveness.About you:Experience providing administrative support within a legal environment.Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build productive working relationships.A proactive and collaborative approach to working within a team.A commitment to confidentiality, professionalism and high-quality service delivery.An interest in continuous improvement and identifying more efficient ways of working.Knowledge of government processes will be highly regarded.About Us:The Office of Public Prosecutions (OPP) is an independent statutory authority responsible for conducting serious criminal prosecutions across Victoria on behalf of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
