Vault Minerals Legal team operates in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, delivering expert legal advice and support to our Darlot, King of the Hills, Deflector, Rothsay, and Mount Monger operations as well as to our corporate office.

Reporting to the General Counsel & Company Secretary, the Legal Counsel will be an integral member of our small legal team, working closely with senior management and operational personnel to provide comprehensive legal advice and support across all aspects of our operations. This role is responsible for assisting the General Counsel & Company Secretary in delivering strategic commercial and legal guidance, including drafting and preparing contractual documentation for Executive approval.

The role is based at our corporate office in South Perth and operates Monday to Friday with occasional travel to our operational sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation, negotiation and review of commercial contracts.
  • Providing strategic and commercially astute advice in relation to the administration and enforcement of contracts and the application of relevant legislation.
  • Providing legal support across a diverse range of areas including projects, native title and heritage, work health and safety, permitting, employment, and general compliance matters.
  • Advising on tenure related matters, assisting with access agreement preparation and management of Warden’s Court proceedings.
  • Liaising with external parties including insurance brokers, tenement managers and external law firms.
  • Identifying and analysing developments in the law that affect the business and making recommendations for appropriate action.
  • Assisting with management of disputes and matters of a litigious nature.
About You
  • Hold an Australian Practising Certificate and possess 4–7 years of post‑admission experience gained at a leading or mid‑tier law firm or in an in‑house legal role.
  • Extensive experience in mining and resources law, with a strong foundation and proven expertise in managing contracts and related legal matters within the industry.
  • Exceptional drafting skills with strong written communication and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Self‑motivated with strong problem‑solving abilities and advanced critical thinking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, complemented by excellent organisational abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines while prioritising effectively, coupled with the capacity to work independently, take ownership, and deliver results under pressure.
